The two of us have a long history. We have known each other for nearly 20 years, have been a couple for 15 years, and have been married for nearly nine years. As a young couple in our twenties, we were both focused on our educations and professional lives. Between graduate schools and new professional beginnings, the "right" time to start a family seemed to always be next year. Still, we both knew that we wanted a complete family and that all the work we were doing was in preparation for that time.
In 2011, we decided the time was right and began the process of adding a new member to our family. We tried and failed to get pregnant for over a year. We added fertility treatments, doubled our efforts, and still had no luck. After finding our "forever home" in West Michigan, we decided to seek out the help of a fertility expert. After numerous tests and procedures, pills and shots, as well as waiting and suffering, we decided to take a new approach. Here we are!
For us, the most important thing is to have a happy and healthy family. Adoption has always been an option for us. In fact, our dream is to be parents to a child, not necessarily to give birth to a child. Either way, our love for our future child will be deep, complete, and unconditional. An adopted family is just that--a family!
